Each Steel Drumming Workshop is tailored to fit your school’s needs, with 30 to 45-minute sessions for each class. Students are introduced to the unique sounds of the steel pans and taught fundamental playing techniques.
Within minutes, students are actively playing using our specially designed tenor pans, which are perfect for primary-aged pupils. The pans are colour-coded for easy learning, allowing all children to participate, regardless of their musical foundation.
Your students will play along with backing tracks featuring a mix of Caribbean classics, party hits, and modern pop favourites, creating a vibrant and engaging environment. These sessions are not only fun but also help develop core musical skills like rhythm, timing, and ensemble performance.

Example Timetable for a One-Day Workshop
Each school creates its own schedule. Here’s an example for a one-form entry primary school:
- 09:00 – 09:30 Year 1
- 09:30 – 10:00 Year 2
- 10:00 – 10:30 Year 3
- 10:30 – 10:45 Morning Break
- 10:45 – 11:30 Year 4
- 11:30 – 12:15 Year 5
- 12:15 – 13:15 Lunch
- 13:15 – 14:00 Year 6
- 14:00 – 14:30 Rehearsal for assembly performance
- 14:30 – 15:00 Whole school celebration assembly
We recommend concluding the day with a celebration assembly, where pupils from each class showcase their newly learned steel drumming skills. The assemblies are full of energy, with singing, dancing, and audience participation, creating a true carnival atmosphere.
